The installation Problems and Solutions is composed of a series of photographic wallpapers, reproducing views of the exhibition space in a scale of 1:1. In addition to architectural elements and everyday objects, which can be found both in the pictorial space and in the real space, the large-format wallpapers depict a series of framed photographs. The motifs of this series document provisional solutions to everyday problems, some of which are imaginative, others crude ad-hoc constructions.
Motifs of the same series were printed out with their frame, mounted on wooden panels and thus integrated into the installation. Only at second glance does it become apparent that there is not a single real frame in the entire installation. Similar to the provisional everyday inventions of the photo series, the wallpapers and trompe l'oeils are an interim solution to the problem of presentation.
The play with reality and representation, situation and fiction, creates an ambiguous setting for the motifs of the series. The unfinished character of the installation, stuck somewhere between set-up and dismantling, echoes the provisional arrangements documented in the photo series.
